Establishing Departmental Feedback Standards for Postsecondary Asynchronous Online Classes

Abstract

This paper presents the research surrounding the importance of feedback, with emphasis on asynchronous online environments, and considerations for establishing feedback standards at a departmental level.  Feedback is critically important to the learning process, although its efficacy depends on several factors. There are additional considerations for successful feedback processes for online asynchronous classes. Appropriate methodology and the necessary support structures needed to implement a departmental feedback standard are also discussed.
